Aluminium Chemicals has been in existence for 30 years. It is the largest producer of Aluminium Sulphates in South Africa. The business is strategically very well positioned adjacent to ZINCOR, responsible for supply of the sulpheric acid, used in the production of Aluminium Sulphate. The other raw material (flint clay) is transported from Taaifontein Mineral Industries via road to the factory in Springs. The flint clay reserve at Taaifontein Mineral Industries currently exceeds 40 years’ supply. All critical processes and equipment at the Aluminium Chemicals production plant is duplicated, ensuring reliability of supply.
The Aluminium Chemicals production plant has the biggest capacity for the production of Aluminium Sulphate in Sub-Saharan Africa, with the ability to produce in excess of 45 000 metric tonnes of liquid product and 20 000 metric tonnes of solid product per year. Aluminium Chemicals is the only producer of Aluminium Sulphate materials in solid form in South Africa. The product is available as Granular, Powder and Kibble grades in various pack sizes as well as bulk liquid.
Aluminium Chemicals employs 50 people, and supplies Aluminium Sulphate products to many local and international blue chip companies in the mining, pulp and paper, as well as water treatment industries. Aluminium Sulphate is also used in a number of other industrial applications. These companies have come to rely on the quality, security of supply and favourable pricing of Aluminium Chemicals’ products – resulting in a massive footprint across Sub-Saharan Africa.s
